This past year was special for SBRN as we initiated some new programs and events, while also maintaining our longstanding successful services. For example, we hosted an exciting and informative Conference for and about people with spina bifida. Our theme was “Empowerment through the Lifespan,” which captures what we strive for as individuals, as an agency, as a community.  It’s related to independence, confidence, inspiration and ultimately success, at every stage of life.

Our Signature Programs:

Strive for Independence Program – a new program that helps children achieve greater independence by managing continence issues

Family Support Services – our ongoing individualized nursing and social service coordination for children, adults and families across the state

Special Medical Needs Fund – financial assistance for families with high medical expenses related to their disability

Fortify Your Future Program – our unique prevention program in which we train college students to educate others about the role of folic acid in the prevention of birth defects

As the State of NJ moves forward with changing its service models for people with disabilities, it is increasingly important for us to use alternative funding sources to keep our programs going. Your generous support ensures that we can continue to provide these vital services to individuals, families and communities.

Thank you! We wish you a happy, healthy and successful year to come!

Sincerely,
Roberta Kestenbaum
Executive Director
